The Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (CMBV) regularly undertakes ambitious educational projects with its partner conservatoires (CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris, Versailles-Grand Parc, CRD of Orsay) to introduce lesser-known works from the French Baroque repertoire. These projects, grounded in historically informed performance, involve productions open to student instrumentalists and singers.
The CMBV coordinates these projects, providing access to scores from its scholarly editions, the expertise of its historically informed performance specialists, musical and artistic direction, rehearsal spaces, and logistical support from its technical and administrative teams.
Among recent projects:
Pastorales pour le Roi-Soleil, centred on two works by Michel-Richard de Lalande – scenic and musical work on L'Amour fléchi par la constance and the Ballet de la Jeunesse, for a group of instrumentalists and singers from the partner conservatoires;
Penthée by Philippe d’Orléans – score edition, musical preparation supported by lectures and masterclasses on interpretation led by CMBV specialists for the participating students;
Ariane et Bacchus by Marin Marais – score edition, analytical and interpretative workshops, masterclasses, and lectures on the work delivered by specialists of the period.
These educational projects thus combine training and research, offering young performers an opportunity to experience the conditions of a professional production, with one or more public performances.
