Le Ballet de la Jeunesse (prologue) (1686)
L'Amour fléchi par la constance (1697)
Michel-Richard de Lalande (1657-1726)
The tercentenary of the death of Michel-Richard de Lalande (1657-1726), a major figure in music at the court of Louis XIV, provides the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles with an opportunity to devise an ambitious educational project with the early music departments of Paris national conservatoire and Versailles Grand Parc, in association with CMBV choir Les Chantres, for the French recreation of two unpublished lyrical works by the composer.
On this occasion, the CMBV is joining forces with several educational partners, notably the early music departments of Versailles and Paris conservatories, for the French revival of two of the composer's operas: L'Amour fléchi par la constance, a short pastoral created in Fontainebleau and revived at the Grand Trianon in 1697, and the prologue to the Ballet de la Jeunesse, danced at and by the Court in 1686.
Young solo singers and instrumentalists, recruited through auditions, will join CMBV choir Les Chantres to bring this unique educational project to life, supervised by specialists in the French Baroque repertoire and conducted by Fabien Armengaud, artistic and musical director of the CMBV choir school. Music, singing, recitation and theatricality will be at the heart of the work, based on scores restored and edited by the CMBV.
