In 2025-2026, the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is offering a new series of themed days entitled ‘Focus on’, mainly aimed at conservatoire teachers, but also open to any artist interested in the topics covered. These training days provide an opportunity to deepen one's knowledge of a specific subject, with a view to integrating it into one's professional and teaching practice, and then to take advantage of the link established with the CMBV on this occasion to continue to explore the subject in greater depth.
Aimed at flutists, violinists and oboists, this day explores the educational dimension of the French Baroque repertoire. Using the CMBV's Collections Découvertes, it will address repertoire selection and stylistic concepts according to level, and offer practical tools for integrating it into teaching – with or without period instruments.
The CMBV is a place for meetings and exchanges which, in a unifying role, unlike a typical research centre or conservatory, focuses on a repertoire and offers a day of training mainly intended for teachers. This training session will provide an opportunity to explore the CMBV's educational collections for flutists, violinists and oboists, whether or not they are familiar with period instruments, as well as to work specifically with a specialist performer to address the stylistic concepts necessary for approaching this repertoire. In addition to the educational aspect of the day, it will also be a special opportunity to exchange practices and approaches specific to the French Baroque repertoire, and perhaps for some, a chance to discover the CMBV's many resources.
Objectives
- Discover and understand the artistic and educational virtues of the French Baroque repertoire
- Explore concepts of interpretation of the proposed corpus through the CMBV's ‘Découvertes’ collections
- Meet and exchange ideas with specialists and colleagues who teach this repertoire

Gilles de Talhouët, flute teacher at the Nantes Regional Conservatory
Gilles de Talhouët began playing the flute with Roger Bourdin. He completed his musical studies at the Boulogne-Billancourt Conservatory, where he was awarded a ‘First Prize by Unanimous Decision’ (class of Pierre-Yves Artaud). At the same time, he discovered early instruments and began playing the baroque transverse flute. Shortly afterwards, he was accepted at the CNSMP (class of Pierre Séchet) and obtained his ‘First Prize’. He then spent two years perfecting his skills with Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague (Netherlands). Gilles de Talhouët has given numerous concerts as a soloist and chamber musician thanks to the support of the Beracasa and Menuhin foundations and has participated in tours organised by the Jeunesses Musicales de France. He has also played and premiered numerous contemporary works as part of the summer courses (Ferienkurse) in Darmstadt (Germany), where he was awarded the Kranichstein Musik Preis.
Hélène Mourot, solo oboe of the Ensemble Les Siècles
Hélène Mourot studied the oboe at the CNSMD in Lyon, where she obtained a DNESM in 2002, followed by a CA teaching qualification in 2004. She began her career as principal oboe at the Opéra de Tours and taught at several conservatoires before devoting herself to Baroque music, contemporary composition and the stage. In 2009, she founded the Compagnie La Passagère, dedicated to forms combining early music, theatre, poetry and sound creation. There she designs unique shows based on Rabelais or improvisation. At the same time, she plays in the Les Siècles orchestra, which specialises in performing on period instruments, and collaborates with contemporary music ensembles such as Hiatus. Her practice combines stylistic rigour, theatrical commitment and poetic exploration of sound, in a constant back-and-forth between musical heritage and invention.
Ugo Gianotti, baroque violinist, bow maker and luthier
From a very young age, Ugo Gianotti grew up surrounded by music. After studying modern violin, he decided to turn his attention to early music and the baroque violin. He furthered his studies of the early instrument with Frédéric Martin in Dijon and then at the Pôle Supérieur in Poitiers with Marie Rouquié. In 2019, he joined Odile Edouard's class at the CNSMD in Lyon. During his studies, he received guidance from renowned teachers and performers such as Enrico Gatti, Chiara Banchini, François Fernandez and Leïla Schayegh. He has had the opportunity to perform with various ensembles such as the Ensemble Baroque de Nice (conducted by Gilbert Bezzina), Il Caravaggio (conducted by Camille Delaforge), Les Argonautes (conducted by Jonas Descotte), the Astrolabe ensemble (conducted by Lucca Alcock) and the Jeune Orchestre de l'Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes, where he had the opportunity to play under the baton of great conductors such as Hervé Niquet and Philippe Herreweghe. Alongside his instrumental practice, he takes a keen interest in the manufacture of antique and modern bows and has had the opportunity to train in bow making with Nelly Poidevin, Craig Ryder and Jean-Yves Tanguy.
