On Wednesdays (outside school hours) the CMBV choir school offers young children an introduction to the world of music. They acquire a grounding in percussion, voice technique, music theory, ear training & sight reading.
Music Kindergarten (age 4-5)
The Music Kindergarten is for children aged 4–5. It takes the form of fun one-hour sessions on Wednesdays (3 groups of 15-20 children), based on methods by Edgar Willems and Jacques Dalcroze. They provide a grounding in music (tempo, pitch, note values, etc.) which is valuable preparation for singing and instrumental playing.
Early Learning (age 6)
Early Learning music classes are for Year 2 pupils, and involve 1 ½ hour music and singing sessions every Wednesday outside school hours:
- Musical training - an introduction to music theory
- Choir - a grounding in singing technique (breathing, posture & diction) in line with their young age.
Over the year the children learn to listen to music and acquire the basics of reading music and rhythm.
