Limoges is immersing itself in French music for the next two years! With the CMBV as main partner, topping the bill in 2021 is the stage premiere of a forgotten masterpiece.
Over two academic years (2019-2020 and 2020-2021) the Limoges conservatoire plunges into the baroque era. Prompted by the teaching staff, students have the chance to discover the special features of 17th and 18th century French music via a series of round tables and masterclasses run by the CMBV and baroque specialists. Against a background of the final years of Louis XIV and iconic figures such as Campra, Destouches, Couperin and Marais, the teaching project will focus on baroque vocals, instruments and dance. It will commence in 2021 with a staged revival of a forgotten French baroque work.
