Created in 2021, the Fonds de dotation du Centre de musique baroque de Versailles brings together individual patrons, companies and foundations around a shared ambition: to pass on and share Baroque heritage, for the benefit of young talent and audiences. Five years after its creation, a look back at the projects made possible thanks to their commitment.
Since 2021, the Fonds has supported the CMBV’s development around several priorities: supporting young talent, enriching the CMBV’s heritage collections and instrument collection, and contributing to projects that bring French Baroque musical heritage to life and enable it to be rediscovered.
Supporting young talent
From the start of the 2022 academic year, the Fonds de dotation du CMBV has enabled the creation of scholarships based on social and academic excellence criteria for the CMBV choir Les Chantres. These scholarships support students both at the beginning of their studies and as they prepare for their professional careers and enter the artistic world. Since 2025, this support has also been extended to grants for specific student projects, in particular to facilitate travel for auditions and competitions.
“Thanks to this scholarship, I have greater financial peace of mind in my day-to-day life. […] You can feel supported throughout the entire journey.” Younes Tebraoui, member of the CMBV choir Les Chantres
Enriching a unique collection of instruments
The Fonds de dotation du CMBV also contributes to developing the CMBV’s instrument collection, designed as a resource for research, training and professional musicians.
Among the emblematic projects of these first five years is the construction of a consort of eight recorders, made after French models from the 17th and 18th centuries. The result of musicological and organological research conducted by the CMBV, this project, completed in 2026, is the first project led by the CMBV to have been fully funded by its Fonds de dotation.
The Fonds de dotation du CMBV is also supporting the reconstruction of the basses de violon of the Vingt-quatre Violons du roi and the making of historically informed bows, in order to complete this exceptional instrumental ensemble and enable artists to explore as closely as possible the sounds and practices of the Grand Siècle.
More than €300,000 raised over five years
Since its creation, the Fonds de dotation du CMBV has raised more than €300,000 exclusively for projects led by the CMBV. These achievements would not have been possible without the continued support of the many individual patrons, companies and foundations that have supported the Fund since 2021. The CMBV warmly thanks everyone who contributes in this way to passing on and rediscovering French Baroque musical heritage.
“Passing on and sharing Baroque heritage, for the benefit of young talent and audiences.”
