From November to June, Les Pages and Les Chantres of CMBV choir school will perform in the Royal Chapel at Versailles in a new season of Jeudis musicaux full of surprises and discoveries!
Four major themes will form the common thread running through this year's educational concerts. First, Henry Du Mont: to mark the completion of the monumental edition of his work by the CMBV, several of his unpublished grand motets and his Cantica sacra will be performed. ‘Pompes et circonstances’ will bring to life the coronation of Louis XVI in Reims, as well as Sébastien de Brossard's Christmas Mass. The ‘A Capella’ theme will feature Frank Martin's splendid Mass for double choir and continue the CMBV's ongoing exploration of 17th century French plainchant. Finally, ‘L'Europe baroque’ will feature Claudio Monteverdi's Selva morale conducted by Emiliano Gonzales Toro, the choir's new resident conductor for this season, as well as the precursors of Johann Sebastian Bach, conducted by Jörn Andresen, professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
This season will also be an opportunity to welcome the Paris national conservatoire choir and the Sainte Anne d'Auray choir, not to mention our partner conservatories, which will be collaborating on the Jeudis musicaux.
A rich and inspiring season lies ahead!
