The CMBV choir school provides quality vocal and music tuition to around 60 schoolchildren from Year 3 through to Year 10.
Classes are tailored to fit in with school timetables at Wapler primary and Rameau high school in Versailles. The pupils attend classes 4 half-days per week, gaining unique experience in the joys of music by singing in a real choir.
Once at high school, these young singers (Les Pages) join the student choir les Pages & les Chantres, with adult music students. Under the direction of Fabien Armengaud, les Pages & les Chantres are given exciting opportunities to perform at concerts in the magnificent Palace of Versailles, and on tour in France and abroad and make recordings.
Teaching Cycles
The CMBV choir school organises two tailored courses:
- Teaching Cycle 1: pupils from Year 3 - 6
- Teaching Cycle 2: pupils from Year 7 - 10 (Les Pages)
Admission to the second cycle is not systematic. Every child’s performance and potential are assessed by the school’s teachers and director and by representatives of the French Education Board, in light of the musical requirements of Les Pages.
State education establishments:
- Wapler primary school (1 impasse Wapler, 78000 Versailles)
- Jean-Philippe Rameau high school (1 Rond-Point des Condamines, 78000 Versailles)
The half-day music sessions take place at Wapler school or at the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (22 avenue de Paris, 78000 Versailles) four days a week (on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays).
