The joint residency project involving Les Ambassadeurs (director Alexis Kossenko), the CMBV and the Atelier Lyrique de Tourcoing showcases the great Rameau with a production of the previously unreleased 1749 version of Zoroastre.
Alexis Kossenko is an ardent fan of the composer and of musicological research in general. With Zoroastre he pursues his 2020 work on Achante et Céphise, another previously unreleased opera by Rameau, which he recorded in collaboration with the CMBV. Drawing on editorial input from Société Jean-Philippe Rameau and CMBV expertise, he has produced a historically informed version of the work, respecting the number of performers, stage arrangement, performance style and method of interpretation. The repertoire’s finest singers have been brought on board - Reinoud Van Mechelen, Mathias Vidal, Jodie Devos, Véronique Gens and Tassis Christoyannis. The event also marks the inauguration of an international partnership - the Grand Manège de Namur joins the CMBV, offering a new opportunity to work with the Chamber Choir of Namur, long associated with CMBV projects.
