The fifth Akademie Versailles, organised in Prague every winter by the CMBV and Czech partners Collegium Marianum to promote French baroque music.
2021 will be the fifth Akademie Versailles, an event set up in Prague in 2017 as the result of an international partnership between the Collegium Marianum orchestra, the Summer Festivities of Early Music and the CMBV, hosted alternately by the Prague Academy of Music and Prague Conservatoire. For one week around forty students, singers and musicians from around the world gather to discover or explore French baroque repertoire, led by repertoire specialist including Patrick Cohën-Akenine, Chantal Santon Jeffery, Alexis Kossenko, Deda Cristina Colonna, Béatrice Martin, Bruno Cocset and Jana Semeradova. This year’s event focuses on court entertainment, an exquisite reduced form of opera performed at the French court to entertain the King and his family. It features a revival of Colin de Blamont’s Le Retour des Dieux sur la terre and a performance of an orchestral suite by Rameau.
