The music played for the royal table is the theme of this French-Canadian partnership between the CMBV and the Arion ensemble, including Lalande’s famous Symphonies pour le Souper du roy composed for Louis XIV.
A new international partnership is born between the CMBV and the Montreal-based Arion ensemble, among the most dynamic enthusiasts of French repertoire across the Atlantic. With the focus on recording rare, often unpublished scores, its first programme is devoted to the music played at royal dinners at Versailles - Lalande’s Symphonies pour le Souper du roi, Symphonies pour le Festin royal du comte d’Artois de Francœur, plus suites by Destouches and Colin de Blamont, Superintendents of the King’s music.
