The Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is joining forces with the Opéra-Comique, the Universities of Nice and Lyon 3, and the Maison de l'Italie in Paris for an international symposium devoted to the practice of Italian music in France from the 17th to the 19th century.
After two study days organised in 2024 with the same partners, the reflection on Italian music in France will continue in 2026 with the organisation of an international symposium that will take a cross-disciplinary approach and focus on three main themes: the theoretical approach to the Italian voice and vocal technique; practices, with a particular focus on vocality in relation to instrumental ensembles; and the French reception of Italian musicians through anecdotal, musicographic and fictional literature.
