Programme
Concertos by Leclair and Vivaldi
Arias from operas by Rameau, Handel and Vivaldi
Stéphanie-Marie Degand and Chantal Santon Jeffery engage in a passionate virtuoso duel accompanied by La Diane française for the first part of the ensemble’s Résidences Croisées joint residency with the CMBV at Pontoise baroque festival. An exciting tour de force with performances of Leclair, Vivaldi, Rameau and Handel.
To inaugurate her joint residency with the CMBV and Pontoise baroque festival, violinist Stéphanie-Marie Degand has invited soprano singer Chantal Santon Jeffery to join her for a musical joust with her ensemble La Diane française. Pitted against each other with panache and bravura are concertos and arias by the greatest baroque composers from the 1730’s - Antonio Vivaldi, Jean-Marie Leclair, Georg Friedrich Handel and Jean-Philippe Rameau. The concert forms part of Stéphanie-Marie Degand’s broader project to record all Leclair’s concertos from scores published by the CMBV. She hopes to show these major works in a fresh light following twenty years experience alongside leading musicians such as William Christie, Emmanuelle Haïm and Christophe Rousset.
