Available in two formats, in person or by videoconference, this workshop offers an introduction to digital resources dedicated to Baroque music, including those provided by the CMBV. It will help participants become familiar with existing databases, identify reliable sources and find essential publications for understanding the French Baroque repertoire. Practical aspects will also be covered, such as the lawful use of resources, good citation practices, and established historiographical standards and practices. Primarily intended for professionals (performers, musicologists, researchers, librarians, etc.), these sessions are also open to enthusiasts and passionate scholars.
Trainer
Marco Lo Cascio, librarian (CMBV)
Marco Lo Cascio is a music archivist and orchestral librarian. He has built his career around institutions dedicated to preserving music and performing arts collections. After studying violin at the Santa Cecilia Conservatoire in Rome and obtaining a degree in Modern History, he specialised in archival science and library science at La Sapienza, writing a thesis on the historical archives of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma as part of an Erasmus programme with the École nationale des chartes. His interests include the challenges of digital transition and international practices for preserving and promoting music collections. In this capacity, he has taken part in exchanges with the Bibliothèque-Musée de l’Opéra de Paris, the Carnegie Hall archives in New York, and the Cappella Musicale Pontificia. After working as a part librarian for the Orchestre de Paris and with the Radio France orchestras, he recently joined the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles (CMBV) as a librarian.
