To mark the 300th anniversary of the Regency of 1723, which will be celebrated in 2023, the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is presenting this recreation as part of the second phase of its international partnership with CAVEMA at the Grand Manège in Namur.

The Regent was also... a composer! This second part of the international partnership between the CMBV and CAVEMA at the Grand Manège in Namur will see the recreation of one of Philippe d'Orléans' two operas: La Jérusalem délivrée.
The magician Armide, in love with the valiant knight Roland, but desperate for him not to return her love, tries at all costs to draw him under her sway. At the same time, the courageous Herminie tries to protect Tancrède, Roland's companion, from the dangers that threaten him. Published in 1704, Suite d'Armide ou Jérusalem délivrée is as rare as it is unusual: written in the hand of the Regent Philippe d'Orléans, its composition testifies to a certain talent and a refined ear. Leonardo García-Alarcón and Cappella Mediterranea brilliantly restore the little-known genius of the sovereign.
This re-creation marks the 300th anniversary of the Regency of 1723, which was celebrated in 2023. This project is part of the second phase of the international partnership between the CMBV and CAVEMA at the Grand Manège in Namur.
