One Saturday per month, the CMBV offers a series of interactive activities for families and friends at the Hôtel des Menus-Plaisirs. On offer - a workshop, stage production, guided tour, treasure hunt and conference – an exciting voyage of discovery through the world of Baroque music!
BAROQUE NURSERY RHYMES WORKSHOP
Les Comptines de Lutèce will transport you into the much loved children’s world of traditional nursery rhymes. The children can sing and dance to selections of 17th and 18th century music and learn about Baroque music in an effortless fun way !
INTRODUCING BAROQUE WORKSHOP
This workshop introduces you to the world of Baroque! Come alone or with your family to discover its composers and iconic works, listen to historical instruments and admire period costumes – and discover its surprising links with the artistic forms of today !
LOUP XIV ET LES COMPTINES CHRISTMAS SHOW
Who is this king who keeps getting into mischief ?! Why, Loup XIV of course !! Dear children, dear adults, welcome to the court of Loup XIV, with its musicians and royal ballet troupe. Follow the adventures of our rather simple-minded king via 17th and 18th century nursery rhymes. Chief rabbit Lully will be there to teach the children how to sing and dance as brilliantly as king Loup XIV !
GUIDED TOUR
Members of the CMBV will show you round these historic premises and shed light on its political, social and artistic role from the 18th century until today !
CHASING LOST TIME TREASURE HUNT
Curiouser and curiouser…! What’s happening at N° 22 Avenue de Paris ? A mysterious curse has struck the CMBV ! It all started during a choir rehearsal late yesterday evening. A bolt of lightning suddenly lit up the rehearsal room and it seemed to have moved back in time! Horses’ hooves can be heard on the courtyard cobbles, the white walls in the room flake away to reveal 18th century decoration. This morning the staff appeared wearing wigs ! You will have to use your powers of observation and ingenuity to dispel the curse on the building. Everyone at the CMBV is relying on you !
LET’S TALK ABOUT RESEARCH’ CONFERENCE
What do researchers do, exactly ? What are their missions? What new avenues of research have appeared in the field of Baroque performing arts ? Are we currently experiencing a Baroque revival ? For an hour you can chat to CMBV researchers and hear about their line of research.
