The CMBV is running a Study Day for researchers and students specialising in the history of theatre to reappraise the notion of the ‘troupe’ under the Ancien Régime.
This round table aims to use a comparative and prosopographical approach to appraise the official management and unofficial practices of theatre workers in France in the 17th and 18th centuries, to determine the common features and specificities of each establishment, to query the notion of ‘troupes’ and their role, and also to take a fresh look at the repertoire, understanding and transmission of expertise in the administrative and contractual environment of all those involved in theatre.
