The Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is pursuing its artistic initiative in Hungary, and is adding an educational flant with the establishment of a French baroque music academy in the historic city of Pécs.
Collaboration from 2015 with conductor György Vashegyi and his Orfeo Orchestra and Purcell Choir in Budapest have resulted in productions and recordings of rare musical works. The CMBV has since increased its presence in Hungary with the establishment of a French baroque music academy in the historic city of Pécs in the south of the country, in association with the city’s university. Headed by specialists Stéphanie-Marie Degand (violin), Judith Van Wanroij (vocals) and Benoît Dratwicki (style & pronunciation), private tuition, initiation courses and orchestral sessions are available to students from all over Hungary, offering an introduction to or a deeper understanding of French baroque repertoire and style.
