In 2026–2027, the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles is celebrating its 40th anniversary, 10 years of the Mediation & cultural outreach department and the final year of the three-year “Ville baroque – Arts et sciences” partnership! To celebrate this exceptional year, students, artists, researchers and craftspeople will come together to explore the making of the Baroque performance, from music, theatre, dance, sets and costumes to contemporary innovations.
Conceived as an immersion at the heart of Baroque creation, this closing edition of “Ville baroque – Arts et sciences” invites residents of Maurepas, La Verrière and Guyancourt to discover all the dimensions of live performance, from its conception to its staging. Through the theme of “the making of a performance”, the CMBV is continuing its artistic and educational co-creation work with partner institutions, bringing together music, the performing arts, crafts, heritage and research.
This year will highlight the many professions and skills involved in creating a performance: set design, costume design, make-up, hairstyling, instrument making, meetings with performing arts professionals, discovery of the CMBV’s instrument collection, singing and organology workshops, guided concerts, artistic experiments and introductions to the professions of the performing arts. Collaborations with artists, researchers and partner institutions will enrich this programme, as will the gradual integration of innovative forms and digital tools.
By exploring Baroque as a total art form, this anniversary edition reaffirms more than ever the performing arts as a space for invention, transmission and collective experience.
