Programme
Texts by La Fontaine, musics by Charpentier, Lully, Marin Marais, etc.
A musical tableau reinventing the whimsical world of La Fontaine and flouting artistic barriers.
The ensemble Les Lunaisiens returns to La Verrière to participate in the La Fontaine en scènes outreach project run by the CMBV since 2019. Arnaud Marzorati and Les Lunaisiens present a grandiose musical fable inspired by poet La Fontaine’s astonishing world in which human emotions are played out by animals. This farce, with its hints of Scarron or Cyrano de Bergerac, flouts the conventional baroque theatre – there’s no music, dancing or fencing duels but instead lots of gossip, chatter, jumping around, twisting and tumbling, slapstick and funny faces.
The music includes Charpentier, Lully, Marin Marais and texts by La Fontaine, which spring to life in a crazy hullaballoo - a musical fete sure to charm young audiences.
Based on historical sources and contemporary codes, the singers, musicians, actors and dancers push back artistic barriers to create a maverick world of high drama and farce.
