Arias and duets from operas by Gluck, Grétry, Monsigny, Gossec, Piccinni, Dalayrac, Sacchini and Persuis
Sandrine Piau and Véronique Gens, who have been involved in the baroque revival from the start, come together to perform a series of duets portraying two late 18th century stars of the stage, Madame Dugazon and Madame Saint-Huberty. Directed by Julien Chauvin, it is part of the Concert de la Loge Résidences Croisées residency project with ADAMA and the CMBV.
Both singers are ardent supporters of French music and rare repertoires and have come together for a recital of late 18th century French opera arias and duets. They have invented an encounter between these two great rivals of the Paris opera stage on the brink of the French Revolution - Madame Dugazon who triumphed at the Opéra-comique and Madame Saint-Huberty who reigned at the Académie Royale de Musique. Their respective repertoires, unearthed by the CMBV, have been entrusted to Julien Chauvin’s accomplished orchestra, Le Concert de la Loge. Rare or unpublished scores by Grétry, Gluck, Monsigny, Gossec, Sacchini, Dalayrac, Edelmann, Piccinni and Persuis are brought to life and are sure to delight audiences.
