This second series of ThéPARis research seminar broadens its remit to include the relationship between the official Paris theatres and non-institutional theatres. From February through June 2020, six sessions will be held variously at the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles, the CESR and at the universities of the Sorbonne and the Côte d’Azur.
The Parisian musical institutions (the Comédie-Italienne, Comédie-Française & Académie Royale de Musique) and their shared theatrical practices were the subject of the first ThéPARis seminars in 2019. The second in the series broadens the scope of research to include non-institutional theatres, i.e. Collège, court and salon theatres. Six sessions will take place from February through June 2020. They will cover the relationship between these establishments and the official theatres, and investigate the transfer and circulation of leitmotifs, artists and expertise. With a view to linking research and theatrical practices more closely, in 2020 ThéPARis will also include a workshop topic for professional performers on divertissements and ornamentation for comédies.
