The CMBV, in conjunction with Côte d’Azur University, is holding the third ThéPARis research seminar, broadening its remit to include figurative arts and digital humanities.
The first two ThéPARis seminars in 2019 & 2021 explored the movement of artists and the shared theatrical practices in public and private Paris theatres. The 2022 seminar investigates the avenues of research which emerged during these sessions. They include the advent of cantata in theatre repertoire (organised with contributors to the Cantatas in France in the 18th century seminar); the presence of artists from the Académie Royale and Opéra-Comique in the Concert Spirituel; and the role of figurative arts. One session will also focus on digital projects involving Paris theatres (online publications, databases, etc.) with a view to identifying via joint discussion new avenues of research in the field of the performing arts and digital humanities.
